*Electrical wires removed for visualization sake* Imagine the classical movable mannequin takes on a whole new form and style. The classical lamp has evolved much over the years but what if this lamp allows your imagination to run wild? And every movement of joint is at your control? What will the evolution be? The results may be controversial, provoking or elegant. Finished in gold plating for a touch of exquisiteness.

The floor lamp CORDULA is inspired by objects used on construction sites. Their simplicity beyond contemporary minimalism built the starting point for its design. The aim was to take an object from the construction site into the sitting room without denying its origin.
CORDULA is the crossbred of a spotlight and a cable reel.
Ten meters of cable allow distant positioning from the power socket. With its additional pivot-joint CORDULA can be rotated by 90 degrees and together with an energy-saving fluorescent lamp it creates an flexible
illumination.

“Stealth” captures that moment during an explosion of structure where there is beauty in the chaotic.
Composed from a single plane of smooth perspex, and folded into an origami like pyramid, light bursts out of this striking new lamp.
The movement within this form adds a dynamic edge to any environment. Light is energy after all.

Eiger North Light shows in a provocative way the weakness and vulnerability of preservation and conservation. In order to experience the golden shine you need to let loose your destructive inner.

These lamps were cut out of a large solid block of wood, made up of small off-cuts. The pendant lamps were then cut out of the block until 12 lamps revealed themselves and all the wood had been cut out.
The 12 lamps can be stacked inside each other for easy transport or stacked on top of each other.

Design inspired by Japanese paper lamps, This lamp was designed to create a moody atmosphere. The organic shape helps soften and diffuse light and encourages different fall off points.

Space Invader is a lighting solution that represents the capture of a revisited concept of a fantastic and fictitious world of lively small aliens.
These extraterrestrial bodies constitute the product of a crossing with the famous Japanese video game characters "Space Invaders" due to an inspiration on its appearance, a kind of sea animals with tentacles, legs or antennas, that move through the air.
On the other hand, Space Invader is also inspired on the appearance of the traditional iron Portuguese three legged pans.
The Space Invader lamp became technical and visually interesting and its unusual appearance is totally modelled in ceramic combined with two different glazing types: white matte exterior/interior matching with bright coloured/matte interior.
The light source at the centre of the sphere in confrontation with the coloured shiny interior glazed provides a slightly coloured light.
Space Invader is a dynamic lamp. With it the user have the possibility to create different compositions, hanging on the sealing or "landed" at the table.

Hsa Wak Now is created using a stitch technique where in the light source is hand threaded through the Perspex and then carefully formed into an image. Allowing the materials to blend together but each having their own space, this piece shows the image penetrating one side, almost pushing through but then appearing on the other side at a different time.
These designs focus on image, structure and illusion; working with the materials to create dimensions and layers, carefully composing forms that seem as if they carry on into the space freely and indefinitely. When off these pieces simply reflect and mirror the environment around but turned on they reveal a new world and dimension beyond from both sides.
Below from Gallery FUMI:
Gallery FUMI presents a group show, MATERIALISM, which focuses on works by emerging designers who are adopting innovative and refreshing ways of working with a variety of materials. FUMI has commissioned new works by Max Lamb, Marcus Tremonto, Paul Kelley, Studio Glithero, Philippe Malouin, and Stephen Johnson, shown together with pieces by Pieke Bergmans and Paul Cocksedge.
As the design and art world progresses, artists and designers are looking at innovative ways of making and presenting their work. The materials they use play an integral role, from both an aesthetic and conceptual point. This exhibition aims to highlight a group of designers and makers who are part of this trend. These designers are changing the process and materials in almost a craft way to produce individualised pieces, embracing design and art.

"The ‘Nauti’ light, is a sophisticated floor lamp with adjustable shade to control light intensity. This mechanism is operated via a 5-position slider located at extended arm height on the shaft, which moves the individual segments. I followed the Lighting Association’s brief to design a decorative luminaire suitable for the retail market but introduced an extra aspect of function to tackle the increase in open plan living and multifunctional spaces.
‘Nauti’ attempts to fulfil this, its outstretched arm and easily adjusted shade, provide both reading and ambient light which enables it to provide a number of different functions within a single room.
The design itself took inspiration from the golden ratio in particular the golden spiral and its occurrence within the nautilus shell. This has been the driving force behind the workings and structure, from the sweeping arc of its pole to the retractable shell like segments.
The result combines the translucent materials of ABS plastic or possibilities for ceramic, with the industrial look of steel and concrete at the base

Drawn to the Light is a contemporary design with a feeling of grandeur more akin to traditional chandeliers. Pure white bone china forms ‘float’ around the light source, casting enchanting
shadows. The natural translucency of bone china accentuates the form and surface pattern of these delicate pieces. The work was launched in September 2004 and is now available, to stunning effect, in black china, coloured glass, and larger bespoke cluster sizes. Drawn to the Light is made by hand, to order, in England.
Each fine bone china shade has a carved pattern of concentric rings, inspired by the many layers of an onion. By day, the Cibola looks beautiful as a sculptural white form, by night, the translucent bone china glows, emphasising the surface detail. The two shades create an eclipse-like effect, with reflected light spilling out of the crescent shaped hollow. The Cibola pendant is striking both as a single statement piece and in clusters suspended at different heights. Due to the size and complexity of the form, this piece is made by the sculptor, Dominic Bromley, to order
The creative force behind Scabetti is the English design duo, Dominic and Frances Bromley. The organic forms and tactile, high quality English made materials, are characteristic of their work. Since their company began with the launch of the Amoeba candlestick and small dish in 1999, Dominic’s
sculptural forms have been an iconic addition to the world of design. 2003 saw the launch of Drawn to the Light, the birth of their second child and their move from London to Dominic’s birthplace in North Staffordshire. The introduction of Drawn to the Light and its critical acclaim gave Dominic and Frances the confidence to continue their work with bone china.
“…when I first saw ‘Shoal’ at the design show I knew it should hang in the newly refurbished Seafood Restaurant…Our ‘Shoal’ is now definitely going to be the new ‘face’ of The Seafood Restaurant; thank you again! Best wishes,
Jill Stein ”
Whilst fresh fish is on the menu at Rick and Jill Stein's, it's the sculptural work from Scabetti,
that is proving to be the gourmet choice for the world of interiors.

A mass of fine bone china fish carrying delicate sculpted detail, circle a central beam of light, creating a captivating cylindrical form. Each fish is lit not only by reflected light from its neighbours but also from within, with the light passing through the delicate translucent china body. Each fine bone china fish is 16cm, (6”), long.
“Bone china is such a beautiful material with a strong English heritage. It has different qualities exhibited in different lighting conditions. It’s translucency when cast very finely, is most appealing and has really been the inspiration for our move into lighting design.”

A self-assembly lamp shade designed by Simon Karkov - normann copenhagen presents Norm 06. Maybe we should move away from self-assembly lamp shades, however, we yield to temptation as soon as we saw Simon Karkov’s latest idea. Norm 06 is a decorative lamp shade with personality and character that fits our design universe in a perfect way.
Simon Karkov explains:”I have worked on Norm 06 for the last 3-4 year and just like many of my other projects; I had to leave my idea for a while and look at it again a couple of months later. The design is inspired by nature, by the lilies and the water lilies. Norm06 nicely follows the Danish design tradition for lamp shades with its shielding of the bulb and the soft light”.
Norm 06 is a sculptural lamp shade with its own expression. It is easy to assemble without the need for any tools or glue. Norm 06 is a good place to start your lamp-puzzle adventure and could - perhaps – be the last in our self assembly series.
