The Peugeot Sphe’ra make use of “state of the art” technology, most significant are the spherical wheels which gives the car unique driving characteristics and allows it to move in any given direction and revolve around its own axis. The spherical wheels use a maglev system for propulsion. The wheels are controlled via electromagnets inside the each wheel are set in motion by a ring of electromagnets surrounding the wheels. When driving, the car is hovering on a magnetic field which works as the suspension. Electricity for the maglev system is supplied by a Hydrogen Fuel-cell placed in the bottom of the car.
The car seats 3 passengers in a 2+1 layout. The visual language is flowing and light to emphasize the fact that it is hovering on the 4 spheres that are enclosed in each corner of the overall shape.
